I finally made it through the semester. The question is, will I return?

Medical school during a pandemic has been a pretty challenging task. It’s not even what is required of me as a student that has me upset, it's realizing that even during a global pandemic that has taken the lives of over 800,000 Americans, our healthcare system and our health policy have not changed in the slightest.

Our healthcare system does not care about people. It does not care about patients, their family members, or even the healthcare providers that deliver care. It only cares about maximizing profits. And no amount of clinical knowledge is going to change that!

Profit over people. Again and again and again. Here’s a lengthy video of what I’ve been struggling with.

“Hope is essential to any political struggle for radical change when the overall social climate promotes disillusionment and despair.” — bell hooks

I’m done feeling helpless and hopeless while watching all the manufactured suffering around me. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. So where do we go from here?

More groups coming soon!

For now, I’ll study for my remediation exams. But I can’t wait to show you the other projects that I’m working on! Because the medicine that they’re teaching us is not going to cut it.
